Chris LoSacco
Software-Obsessed Technologist in NYC
Hi! My name is Chris. That's me in the picture up there. I work in software and live in Brooklyn, NY.
I've been creating interfaces, managing products, and running development teams professionally since 2006. I try to build things that make people feel good.
What I'm Up To
I am the co-founder of two companies:
- One is a small consulting firm with a long time friend, business partner, and fellow fierce champion of making great software.
- The other is an AI-powered healthcare technology product for small dental offices.
I'm interested in companies using technology to do one of three things: enabling people to live healthier lives, giving people simple and powerful financial tooling, or delivering a delightful experience in an industry that typically doesn't have them. If you're part of a company like this, I'd love to hear from you.
Professional History
Most recently, my company Postlight was acquired by NTT DATA, a top 5 global technology and consulting company, in June of 2022. I spent 2 years at NTT DATA as part of the founding executive team within their Launch group, leading teams in Product Innovation, Design, and Solution Architecture, and left in 2024.
Postlight was a New York City-based digital strategy, design, and engineering firm that delivered best-in-class software platforms and experiences for a wide variety of clients. I joined the founders on day one, contributing to the growth and operations of the business for a six year period. While overseeing the Product Management team, I led engagements and designed platforms for the MTA, Goldman Sachs, Vice Media, and several other high-profile clients and startups. In 2021, I officially stepped into the role of President and, in close partnership with the CEO, oversaw a dramatic expansion of the company, cultivated an incredible team, and led the company through its acquisition. I also co-hosted the Postlight Podcast, a show about all things tech, leadership, and business with none of the buzzwords. The show lives on as Catalyst: The Launch by NTT DATA Podcast (always happy to share my favorite episodes from the back catalog ;).
Before Postlight, I was the Senior Vice President of Product at Beatport, where I led the team that built a new Beatport platform: Beatport Streaming, the Beatport iOS & Android mobile apps, Beatport Pro, and Beatport Live. I wound up building a talented team at Beatport because of another acquisition: SFX Entertainment, the then-owners of Beatport, bought the consulting firm I was a partner at, Arc90.
Ethos
I have always considered myself a curious technologist who tries to create software that people love to use. Software is eating the world and most of it is bad when it doesn't have to be! The throughline of my career has been leading product-focused design and engineering teams that have tried to change this. I got into tech because I grew up seeing the Internet take shape, and I believed in applying interaction design to create great interfaces on the web (and still do).
I am both intrigued and put off by the current proliferation of artificial intelligence tools. On one hand, it has allowed me to accelerate creating software platforms in a dramatic way, and they're (mostly) a lot of fun to build with. On the other hand, AI is often misused and regularly wrong, frustrating, and creatively disastrous. I will continue to be judicious about how and where I lean on AI tools, especially in creative pursuits, of which software design is one.
Ask Me About...
- Being vegan – I've been plant based since 2012 (if you want an all-time great recipe, try my wife's Buffalo Chickpea Dip)
- Personal finance – I have a ridiculous setup where I remote into a PC from my Mac solely to run Microsoft Money Sunset Edition, where I've tracked every dollar I've spent since 2002
- Hiking in upstate New York – the right balance to living in the city is having an escape to the beautiful trails around New Paltz, NY
- New York University / Tisch School of the Arts – my alma mater, where I double majored in Theatre and Computer Science and got to study acting alongside some incredibly talented people
- Escape rooms – I've tackled 25+ of them and I'm always on the lookout for new ones
